It's good to keep abreast of the trends and follow suit (well, at times!), but when it comes to home decor, nothing beats novelty.

Every room needs your "own" touch - that one unique element that is an extension of your own "self". Your home should tell the story of who you are, what you love, and what you don't - it should speak oodles about your adventures, of people, places, and experiences you are made of. Remember, decorating is an unfinished project, because you are always finding and adding your next favorite thing to it :-). Do what you can with what you have and where you are. Your home is your masterpiece, be creative. I assert that if you love something hard and deep, it will work. That's the only rule!
